What a special treat we have for this month's GreenMeet: Eric Corey Freed will be presenting his latest talk, It's Zero Or Nothing: Solutions for the Post-Carbon Economy. The event is on Wednesday, May 14th, from 5:30 to 8:30, at the LEED double-Platinum Certified SDG&E Energy Innovation Center.
If you haven't seen Eric present live before, you are missing out. Definitely not your typical architect, Eric's talks are funny, thought-provoking, inspiring and of course, well-designed.
This is Eric's latest presentation and as the title suggests, it addresses new ways of designing and constructing buildings that are net zero energy, net zero water, and net zero carbon. From his website:
Even if every new building were to obtain LEED Platinum certification, it wouldn't reduce our current carbon emissions. In truth we need to focus on making all buildings be net zero energy, net zero water and net zero carbon, including our existing ones. The next generation of buildings can't simply continue trying to be "less bad" or make us feel guilty for our lifestyles. What is needed are living, regenerative buildings that do no harm and repair the damage we've done. In this talk we will explore new models for how to transform our buildings into living habitats.
