The San Diego Green Building council is running it's 2012 Green Homes Tour for the 3rd year in a row on Nov. 4 from 11-4. This is a fantastic opportunity for homeowners to share green building techniques and learn from each other, as well as the eco-minded green professionals working on these homes. Owners, contractors and members of our staff will be at each home giving tours and discussing green features with interested parties.
There will be a variety of home types from larger luxury custom homes to multi-family to smaller retrofit jobs - we'll have something for everyone! Location will range from downtown to Poway & Mira Mesa and then along the coast from Del Mar to Carlsbad.
A variety of green topics and upgrades will be covered, such as:
- water conservation: greywater, rainwater harvesting, and drought-tolerant landscaping
- geothermal heating/cooling system
- healthy air & water filtration systems
- green architectural design
- best insulation & energy efficiency techniques
- electric & hot water solar systems
- organic / sustainable gardens & farm
Also, you can learn about how to use multiple rebate money available from sources like Energy Upgrade California, local water company, San Diego city or SDGE. For example, one of our homes on the tour received an $8000 rebate on a $26,240 job. That's a 30% savings!
Special thanks to our Premier Event Sponsor, Brookfield Homes, who is proud to present Rockrose at the Foothills - a green new home community in Carlsbad that will be one of the stops on our Tour. We also want to thank sponsors Design Institute of San Diego and Energy Inspectors for their contributions.
