About the San Diego Green Building Council
We are the local resource for the green building and sustainable planning community in San Diego.
Our mission is to inspire, educate and collaborate within our community to transform our built environment toward true sustainability.
The history of the U.S. Green Building Council San Diego Chapter begins in 2002. There were 21 people in attendance in an initial organizing meeting, and they decided that each person would be “on the board”. Since then, membership has risen steadily to more than 500 individual chapter members. In San Diego County there are more than 1,200 LEED Accredited Professionals and Green Associates. (If you are a LEED AP, and not a member, click here!)
In the public directory of LEED Projects through May 2012, there are more than 235 LEED Certified Projects in San Diego, totaling more than 22,000,000 square feet of building floor area. There are more than 740 LEED Registered projects in San Diego County, totaling more than 80,000,000 square feet.
